Meticulous attention to detail perfects a marriage of comfort and relaxation, and caters for your every need. Kevin Mangeolles joined the George Hotel in September 1996 and the restaurant was awarded 3 Rosettes by the AA in that year and each year subsequently. He specialises in modern British cooking with French Influences and regularly visits France, California and other parts of the world for inspiration. Menus change frequently with the seasons, and where possible organic and local produce is used. The brasserie offers an alternative to the hotel restaurant, with its garden overlooking the sea. A very relaxed atmosphere, again the creations of Kevin Mangeolles in a simpler format, using where possible organic and local produce. Menus are seasonal, and the food, is contemporary brasserie style with a European influence. Fish features regularly on the menu. Oaklands@Yarbridge sits at the foot of the scenic Brading Downs on the Isle of Wight, making it ideal for both walkers and cyclists. The heated swimming pool (June to September) is open most days from 14:00 to dusk. The friendly village pub, The Yarbridge Inn, is just across the road. Walk just a few more metres for fishing on the River Yar.
Oaklands was featured in the April 2006 Sunday Mirror article 'The Best of British at Bargain Prices'. Oaklands has also been awarded 5-stars by IW Council for food hygiene standards.

In addition to bath/shower en suite, clock radio, tea, coffee and hot chocolate making facilities, and colour television, we also offer 'Premier' rooms that are furnished and decorated to a very high standard, for that special occasion. A small supplement is made for sea view and premier rooms. The dining room provides good home cooking using fresh local ingredients when available. Special dietary requirements can be catered for. A cliff walk past Shanklin Chine takes you to the beach (downhill), and there is a cliff lift to bring you to the top. From there it is a short walk back to your hotel. The old village is a five-minute stroll to browse in the 'Olde Worlde' thatched cottage shops for souvenirs and locally made rock. Breathtaking sunrises and spectacular sunsets are available on the Isle of Wight. Seaview rooms provide continuous front row views every morning of the sunrise, weather permitting.
