Rooms with en suite bathroom facilities are available, as are rooms with a washbasin and shared bathroom facilities.
The hotel is a great base from which to enjoy north Iceland?s waterfalls, whales and woodlands. Dettifoss is the most powerful waterfall in Europe and is situated on the Jökulsá á Fjöllum river, which flows from the Vatnajökull glacier. The falls are 100 metres wide and have a drop of 44 metres down to the Jökulsárgljúfur canyon. The small nearby town of Husavik offers whale-watching cruises and Lake Myvatn has unique birdlife, magnificent fjords and volcanic craters. The Hotel Edda Akureyri is a student residence for much of the year, but operates as a hotel between 14th June and 27th August. It offers comfortable, spacious, clean accommodation at reasonable rates within walking distance of the centre of town.
